I remember first meeting Professor Peter Clark in 'Introduction to Metaphysics' in 1999. He would explain Zeno's paradox by slowly pacing from right to left, seemingly only half-talking to us and half-processing the thing carefully in his mind at the same time. A few years later, in my own teaching, I found myself doing the exact same thing when trying to explain the exact same paradox... How inspiring that man was! And what an important figure he has been in my life: his encouragement and support has boosted my confidence and I still think of him as a father figure. I always felt the world was richer with him in it; and I hold a place of grief in me now that he is no longer around. Professor Peter Clark, I am indebted to you and honoured by your support and your mentoring. May you Rest In Peace.
I'm sorry to hear about the passing of Professor Peter Clarke. Peter was head of department when I was a post-graduate student, at the Univeristy Of St Andrews. This was as far back as 2006-7. Peter was an amazing man. He knew everything about everything. He will be massively missed.
